Meet The Artist
Attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from High Point University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. She graduated with a major in Industrial Organizational Psychology and a minor in Art. While these disciplines may seem unrelated, they eventually led her to the art of portraiture, a career she has enjoyed for twenty-five years. In fact, Gaye Frances believes that each discipline contributes equally, especially in the painting of portraits. One seeks to render a likeness. The other seeks to bring life to that likeness.
“It was certainly no accident that both psychology and art were my chosen fields of study. I find human behavior quite fascinating, and equally fascinating, the characteristics that distinguish one face from another. They tell such intriguing stories. Lines that slowly etch a face speak of wisdom gained, of storms weathered and laughter shared. The smoothness and angelic quality of a child’s face reveal an innocence reserved only for those not yet marked by years of life’s experiences.”
Gaye considers herself to be a lifelong student of the arts. She continues to participate in workshops and has studied with numerous renowned artists. She is a member of Randolph County Art Guild and the Portrait Society of America. Her private commissions hang in homes and businesses throughout the United States. Reproductions from her Christmas Collection and other original art are treasured throughout the world.
